On May 27, 2011 Firefox 6 Alpha was released (Download), But sadly most of the add-on developers have not updated their add-ons yet. It will take time for them to do so, in the mean time you want to try out Firefox 6, So here is how to make your add-ons work in Firefox 6.

Note: If you are using Firefox 6 right now, you may want to copy the following into notepad before proceeding.

  • Navigate to about:config in your address bar
  • Click on the I’ll Be Careful, I Promise button
  • Right-click on the list and select New > Boolean
  • In the Preference Name dialog box type: extensions.checkCompatibility.6.0a and select False
  • Right-click on the list again and select New > Boolean
  • In the Preference Name dialog box type: extensions.checkCompatibility.6.0a1 and select False
  • Restart Aurora (Firefox)
