As you would have found out by this time Google Instant is unveiled. You can access it here.
But did you know that:
- Google released a doodle the day day before the official announcement of instant search. It is supposedly to represent how fast the internet search should take place. And of course this doodle was not visible in Google India home page.
- Google Instant doesn’t improve search quality. Before you jump into conclusions, A simple instant search for “Google Instant” would not show up anything about Google Instant at all.
- Google also says Instant will be automatically disabled when they can detect that a searcher has a slow internet connection.
- It will not work on opera browser. Common Google, Don’t be evil. There is a work arround for that at the Opera blog,
- Instant search supports the following keyboard shortcuts:
- Yahoo had the idea for instant search long before Google. On September 15, 2005, Yahoo launched an innovative search tool called Yahoo Instant Search. It was available at instant.search.yahoo.com, but that URL leads to a 404 page now. Check out the Yahoo’s blog post that announced LiveSearch on Archive.org
- Stanford student created YouTube Instant (http://feross.net/instant ) and got a job offer from YouTube CEO. And all of this happened via twitter. After spotting YouTube Instant, Hurley Tweeted over to Aboukhadijeh, saying he loved the idea and asking if he wanted a job. Aboukhadijeh, who goes by the Twitter name FreeTheFeross, sent a message back to find out if Hurley was serious about the offer. It looks like Hurley was, indeed, quite serious. And now YouTube Instant has its own domain http://ytinstant.com/
